The old outfit appears in dialogues, it is pre-installed by the developers, but in gameplay sections your Traveler is taken, along with the skin equipped on him

Which is an interesting insight into the coding behind the game, since it appears the game has both travelers hard-coded for certain scenes and pulls the model from a different folder than it does during gameplay.
