Is it safe to use ping reducing softwares like Exitlag, Mudfish and WTFast, or is it bannable?

Hi everyone, as the title suggests my ping is a bit notorious in genshin for some reason thanks to my ISP and using softwares like the ones stated in title fixes the issue.

Tho I am not sure if it is allowed in genshin since I have seen cases of ban in other games. If anyone knows if it's safe to use them I'll appreciate it.

Sounds like a scam, to be honest - once a packet leaves your computer and hits your ISP, nothing running on your computer can affect the signal routing or ping of the network. Sounds like vaporware that’s trying to get you to pay for a bunch of woo woo nonsense.

Every vpn is just inserting a middleman into your signal chain. Instead of pc -> isp -> game server and back you have pc -> isp -> vpn server -> game server and back. The idea that somehow their server to the game server is going to be so fast that it offsets adding the isp -> vpn step? Crazy talk, since transmission speed is mostly a function of the length of wire the signal has to traverse.

In a perfect scenario yes.

But on a global level ISPs and exchanges prioritize routes for web traffic, where bandwidth is enormous and ping doesn't matter - so they send you on a longer path if it has more free bandwidth. Especially in countries with underdeveloped networks where optimizations counts.

Quite often ISPs manually adjust routing so that games work better. If they don't, getting an exit point with different routing genuinely helps.

Maybe try it out or look into it before dismissing it entirely. In a world where ping would be determined entirely by length of the wire-- yes, what you describe would be the case. Unfortunately the real world doesn't function that way and ISPs regularly throttle nodes for various reasons, or even if not throttled may simply have very high congestion. There are many online video games out there that VPNs like Mudfish or Exitlag are well known and well documented to actually work at reducing ping depending on the typical node path your ISP routes to.

They *work* because they are technically VPNs. Even without using specialized services like the ones named in the post, and just basic anonymity/privacy VPNs, you can sometimes get better latency purely due to better transit routes.

The named services in the post typically *claim* they have private peering agreements, for servers they alleged to route better to certain games servers in their catalog. I cannot vouch for any of them, but the concept is technically sound.

Regardless, using any of them is as "safe" as just using VPNs, in regard to whether it's bannable or not, which is no issue at all for Hoyo games.

Many ISPs throttle your connection by intentionally slowing it down, during peak hours, when you exceed data caps, or when you're doing high bandwidth stuff like streaming/gaming, or whenever they feel like it. Using a VPN at least makes it harder for them to identify what you're doing, so it may help, but I personally don't have experience in it. Anyway, It's easy enough for OP to test, just run a speed test with a VPN on/off
