I would make her be more of a pyro dps than physical.

What if-
It won't
Jokes aside first I would give her a skin with hair down and then I would make her a real pyro shielder that gives some attack, pyro particles and pyro application
That would make her a fine alternative to Bennett for my melt Ganyu
MofoPro2026-01-30 18:13
By not using her
PandiTati2026-01-30 18:20
I wouldn't make her DPS, there's a lot of pyro DPS already. But we have only one Pyro shielder (and Tankfei)
So I would make her a dedicated pyro shielder that doesn't have to rely on NAs like Thoma, with 100% shield uptime and Pyro DMG boost instead of physical, or ATK% buff. Also pure ATK scaling to make use of pyro resonance. Would be perfect for mono pyro Lyney or sustain option for overload or Kinich
InukoJon2026-01-30 18:30
Make her electro. Idk what it’ll fix w her kit but it irks me she’s supposed to be a rockstar and doesn’t have an electro-guitar.
Gregamonster2026-01-30 20:56
Being electro would actually do a lot to fix her kit.
Xinyan is a physical support, increasing the physical damage of anyone protected by her shield and reducing the physical defense of enemies that get hit when she activates the shield.
But since she's pyro she interferes with Superconduct, which is the reaction any physical character is going to be built around.
Making her electro would let her enable Superconduct instead of disrupting it, which would be a huge boon to her usability.

Have faction buff with dehya qiqi and siegewienne
GradeAccomplished3222026-01-30 18:42
Prioritizing changing as little as possible:
* Give her a unique charge attack animation that better incentivizes using it, more similar to beidou's perhaps, something with more character, and maybe put decreased stamina use on her constellations, or else just let her have DEF scaling attacks without relying on her old default animation charge attack
* Shift her focus to be more shield oriented and provide other buffs while the shield is up (maybe pyro DMG +% that matches the physical DMG +% it currently adds)
Rex_Lapis_2026-01-30 18:45
Why is she phycial unit with def scaling while pyro
The_Starfallen2026-01-30 18:47
Honestly if hoyo decides to delete her we wouldn't notice.
WanderingCollapse2026-01-30 18:48
Give her a unique charged attack animation with a better scaling.
Make her shield a physical shield - we don't have that yet, and wouldn't be utterly useless if they give it the 250% physical absorbtion.
Straight up buff the numbers on her ult.
Yes I really want a viable physical DPS. Yes, I'm gonna cope.
VarcasIsHere2026-01-30 19:48
Ey, I can clear most abysses in under 1:30 for her side. 36 stars of course. In a team without 5 star consts, where she deals the most dmg (aka she isn't totally wheelchaired). That's viable enough in my book :D I don't think this will be possible for much longer, but I've had one hell of a time with it.
WanderingCollapse2026-01-30 21:15
Without any infuser? With physical damage? I doubt it. I'm not talking about plunge Xinyan with Citlali, Bennett and Xianyun. In this scenario any claymore works.
VarcasIsHere2026-01-30 21:56
yes without infuser, yes with physical, no bennet, citlali or xianyun.
short breakdown, xinyan obviously on redhorn. furina with sig and golden troupe, escoffier with fav and noblesse, kuki with xiphos and totm. pulls about 60k dps on the dummy, +/- 2k, because the team has 7 different reactions happening, and one minor difference in application timing throws the whole thing for a loop. on average, xinyan does \~40% of the dmg, furina 30, coffee 20, and kuki 10.
and the most important part: a lot of time spent farming xinyan artifacts over the years, and experimenting with teammates and rotations.
WanderingCollapse2026-01-31 11:02
That's actually impressive! I salute you, my man. I really wanna build Xinyan one day too, but I haven't gotten to it yet. And when I say build, I mean that all my "built" characters are top 1% on Akasha, so I do care about good artifacts. But yeah, I really wanna cope and make her a physical DPS.
BlackTemplarKNB2026-01-30 18:53
She's so forgotten by the devs, she's not even showing up in events anymore (though i think she appeared once last year somewhere)
NoxAlbus2026-01-30 18:58
Just for fun, I would add HP and EM scaling to her as well so no stat is ever wasted on her
Akikala2026-01-30 19:01
All she really needs to do is to not lose her pyro application if her shield breaks. That alone would've made her a very good budget pyro off fielder for OL teams.
Obviously to make her actually good she'd need to provide some offensive value like res or def shred, buffs or just more raw damage.
Luosifen2026-01-30 19:05
Without changing too much of her base kit, I’d give her a liyue themed buff that increases crit rate and crit damage for physical damage when she ults for a duration. Then I’d release a meta physical dps from Liyue and Xinyan happens to be her BIS 4 star support.
Neospanner2026-01-30 20:04
Surprised no one's mentioned this yet, but aside from being inconsistent at registering the number of enemies properly, Xinyan's Skill can't produce a level 3 shield against solo enemies (and almost all endgame enemies are solo). They should do away with the tiered shield requirement and always produce a level 3 shield.
At C2, her Burst will always produce a tier 3 shield, so you might be able to get by on that. Even so...
Ke5_Jun2026-01-30 20:19
-Fix her bugged shield for starters, and maybe make the application much more consistent so she can be a burgeon triggerer while also having defensive utility.
-Make her DMG scale fully off DEF so she isn’t in that awkward ATK/DEF split scaling mode, increasing both her DMG and shielding at the same time.
Those are two simple changes that can drastically increase Xinyan’s viability to be at least **okay**, not even **good** necessarily. But she’d actually be a valid option and about as usable as Thoma (fewer buffs, not reliant on burst for shields but trades uptime and shield refreshes for more personal dmg) who by all means is one of the more decent 4-star options out there.
Now the next changes are a little more drastic but I think Xinyan has an interesting thing going on with physical, and as bad as physical is I’d like to keep that unique part of her. So here are the buffs I’d make to her physical aspects:
-If there is at least one electro **and** cryo character on the team, make Xinyan’s shield pulses do physical dmg based on her DEF stat instead, and increase the dmg of all physical moves done by the team by 50% (this will also offset the dmg loss from not having access to pyro reactions). This will finally give us a physical **subdps**, while also buffing the team’s physical dmg. It’s also “balanced” in the fact that you need to actually be dedicated to making phsyical work by restricting your team options to have one electro and one cryo, while not being so restrictive as it allows your 4th slot to be whatever element you want.
-Change her C1 to increase the ATK speed of the **active** party member after they score a crit, not just Xinyan. 12% isn’t much, but when stacked with ATK speed supports like Mika, can be a nice buff (and makes the C1 not useless for support Xinyan). It’s essentially a permanent 12% ATK speed buff which is a small but nice buff to any on fielder.
-Change her C2 to allow ALL her shield ticks to crit after using her burst. This not only encourages using her burst (which remember now has increased physical DMG based on DEF), but also removes the need for Xinyan to build crit **entirely** when used as a support, while giving her a lv3 shield automatically.
-Change her C4 to not only decrease physical RES by 30%, but also lower the opponent’s DEF by 30% when hit by physical attacks **only**; DEF debuff is a lot more potent than RES shred because superconduct already lowers opponent’s physical RES by 40%; Xinyan’s measly 15% from current C4 isn’t doing that much and is another lackluster constellation.
-Change her C6 to, like her C1, apply to the **active** character instead of just Xinyan. In case you don’t know (don’t blame you cause who uses Xinyan), her current C6 Decreases Xinyan’s charged ATK stamina consumption by 30%, and gives her a charged attack… ATK bonus by 50% of her DEF. Now this would be good if… Xinyan were a powerful attacker, but she’s unfortunately not (because Claymore charged attacks are SLOW). For the on fielder though, not only is she buffing their ATK (for charged attacks only) by 50% of her DEF, it reduces stamina usage, which on the right character can be great. It doesn’t even have to be a physical DPS either (all our current physical DPSes don’t use their charged attacks anyways).
This, along with possible other changes to the physical archetype as a whole, is how I would buff Xinyan to be an actually good physical support/subdps that also makes her pyro element into less of a liability, by removing most of it in a physical team, or increasing it if used in a non physical team.
Gregamonster2026-01-30 20:52
I would just make her electro.
She's a physical support, she needs Superconduct.
KokoTheeFabulous2026-01-30 23:17
> fix her kit
Fix her hairstyle then we'll talk, I don't like the way it looks against her face at all, I've got this girl and constellations for her but I can't stand her hair, I just don't think it suits her
Admirable-Volume-4042026-01-31 02:48
Off-field pyro applicator and shielder is her best, honestly.
lostn2026-01-31 06:28
drop the physical and make her pyro damage only.
Drop dual scaling and have her scale off just DEF.
Boost the numbers.

A few random ideas that don't involve changing gameplay:
1. Each time an enemy is hit by Xinyan's attacks, they Concussed for 10s. Concussed enemies have their defense reduced by 10%. This effect stacks up to three times. Enemies hit by Xinyan's elemental burst are immediately inflicted with three stacks of this effect.
2. Xinyan's charged attack gains 15 Crit Rate on enemies per stack of Concussed they have.
3. After a single nearby enemy suffers a critical hit from each party members within 10s, all party members gain the following effect: for every point of Defense Xinyan has beyond 1400, all nearby party members gain 0.1% Crit Damage, up to a maximum of 60 Crit Damage.
