Questions about Lan Yan before Lantern Rite pick

She's a shielder that shreds the resistance of the element she swirls with VV

I pulled her c2 last year and after playing with her a little the gameplay didn't feel smooth due to the shield uptime and her throwing herself backwards after using her skill

I use her as an Anemo flex unit in theatre only. She is a +1 unit to the Anemo cycle that is defense with VV. Shields are good to have too. Other than that I don't use her elsewhere.

Nice shielder but doesn’t last long

She's a decent anemo support. I use her on my Arle team alongside Yelan and Bennett. I use Citlali's signature on her, so she provides damage buff, res shred and shield. Thrilling Tales should be the best f2p alternative. She also does not too bad damage with her burst. Overall, worth investing into if you like the character. Usable at c0 and still has good cons.

She's one of the best anemo supports, shreds RES with VV + is a catalyst user so can hold TTDS + huge shield + small EM buff at C4.

In terms of pure damage she's outclassed by Sucrose in many teams since Sucrose gives better buffs (but no shield), but if you have a sustainless team (for example Flins + Bina + Fischl) that needs an Anemo she's a very solid choice.

Shield shred or on fielder. You only need her c1 and even that is not a huge improvement. She’s perfectly effective out of the box so cons aren’t make or break like some 4 stars

I wish we could postpone the wish for next year..and when the next time the event is coming, we can have 2 wishes, the postponed one and the one of the next year xD I dont need that silly 1 free wish now, when there is nothing left for me in the options, that I still need, and everything is C6 xDD T.T

Next year there is at least the chance, that by then a new 4s got added..

Aside of my mourning.. take Lan Yan, shes aside of Gaming one of the best picks, if you already have Xingqiu, Xiangling and Yun Jin C6, plus shes unique, as she is the only Anemo Shielder of the whole game, after having to wait 4 YEARS for that to happen and MHY hasn't yet added any 5S version of that mechnism.. Varka won't be a shielder, so we still have to waint on the overnext 5S Anemo character to eventually take the crown of Lan Yan for that role with a powercreeped skill kit surpassing her.

She is an amazing 4 star shielder, thanks to the fact she got released after Hoyoverse stopped making them underpowered due to their defensive value, and as a modern character she isn’t clunky like most old ones are. She doesn’t suffer from circle restrictions. Just don’t expect her to he as strong as modern 5 star shielders (Citlali, Ineffa), those are in another league. She can often replace a VV user like Kazuha without any loss of team DPS though.

She can use VV artifacts and TTDS to buff other characters, or Citlali’s signature weapon if you have it. Her shield is strong, can snapshot ATK buffs becoming even stronger (especially useful with Bennet’s buff, but remember it takes like half a second to apply), and with her C2 her shield can be regenerated making it extremely difficult to destroy unless the enemy has so much damage that it get one-shotted. With her C4 she can give a little EM buff with her Burst.

The duration of her shield is 12.5 seconds, that is generally enough to protect the main DPS for the duration they stay on-field. The cooldown is 16s, so she can be used in teams that have short rotations.

Her C1 also makes double Swirl to buff 2 elements with VV super easy in teams with Bennet. You just use her EE when Bennet infuses Pyro, and if there is an aura like Cryo or Hydro, she will Swirl, remove it, apply Pyro and swirl it. All in just one attack.

Her damage scalings are surprisingly high at C1+, so she can do lots of personal damage in some teams where she gets good buffs. Nuking overworld enemies/bosses in a team focused on her is super fun.
