Regarding Keqing's English Voice

When the new VA's first lines were added back in the summer I admit it felt very jarring and "wrong" to me, putting aside the reason for the change at the time. But, her appearance now in the Lantern Rite feels much better and I'm quite liking the new voice so far in the event.

It's almost certainly the same VA as Hysilens from HSR, but even then it's not just a 1-to-1 of that performance, and the cadence now feels like a good fit for Keqing. Looking forward to see the eventual redo of battle and idle lines, if/when that occurs.

Indeed, and since this (I think) is only the second appearance of her with the new voice, and the old lines have not been redone, it'd be easy to overlook if one wasn't caught up on the news at the time.

Exactly my thoughts after playing act 1 of lantern rite too. I also totally forgot what her voice sounded like from the Stygian quest so this was me rediscovering her voice again and it was oddly satisfying being able to faintly make out Hysiliens‘ voice after Amphoreus.

I haven’t done the Lantern Rite quest yet, but I sort of agree. Sucrose VA wasn’t bad but she just didn’t really fit Sucrose imo. I expected something more timid and shy and the voice they used just sounded idk too confident I guess? Hopefully with time it’ll improve though?

I took breaks and didn't do the last 2 lantern rites and I came back the for NodKrai and as a result and I gasped and said, "NO" when I heard Sucrose so I about damn fell out of my chair at Keqing. Sucrose sounded so full and less airy. She sounded soooo mature and confident and he cadence seems faster. I actually quite like the VA's voice, just not for this character. Like you said, I think they'd be way better swapped.

New Keqing is SO nasally. I let my husband listen and he said, "why does this VA sound like they wear a 4XL?" Her cadence is much slower, and she is more airy instead of Keqing's sharp enunciation. I am so jealous of people who cannot tell the difference between old and new.

I dont feel like a lot of people here play Keqing. Not that I blame them as she hasn't been relevant in ages. But her new VA just isn't like her at all. I think people just like the voice without having any association with the character. Her last big moment was probably when she got her skin and that was 2-3 years ago. No ones really going to remember her if they don't use her.

Keqing is my favorite character. She has been for years. I got a ton of merch. Her new voice is better than before but its still the voice of some character who isn't Keqing. Its not confident enough to even say lantern rite without a pause before hand. Its not sharp enough to go with it. Shes whispering and windy as if shes anemo.

Even if she did do all that right, Kayli still has a really unique voice that I imagine is hard to replicate.

It's ok I guess but the inflection just isn't sharp enough, needs to be more crisp/curt to suit Keqing. At the moment she sounds way too laid back.

The new voice doesn't fit Keqing. It's too different, she sounds like she's trying to whisper the entire time. Kinich, Paimon, and Tighnari sound similar to the old voices, but Keqing sounds like a completely different character now. And if it *is* Hysilens, she's still suppressing her natural accent which makes the voice worse. But if anyone's at fault, it's the voice director.

This is my first time hearing her new voice, so hopefully it'll sound better to me in the future.

Even tho the new VA still hasn't been announced, she definitely has the Escoffier problem. A Brit trying to do an American accent. Anytime she says "idea" she tries so hard but you can still hear an "r" sound at the end from her British accent slipping through. Other times, her accent sounds so like stereotypically American, like someone who's clearly not an American trying their best to imitate what they think is an American accent and they try to copy the Midwestern or News Anchor accent a little too hard

Id liked the swap from the beginning tbh, I *hated* bitchy KeQing - it wasnt tsundere or anything, it was just plain ”gtf away from me,” and I only ever wanted to oblige. I’m no longer just wanting to scramble away from her when she’s on screen. I think it fits her much better. She’s not a bratty teen but someone of important standing who would need some amount of decorum. Which is what this new brings

It's an improvement, but there were some really jarring bits where some words were off. I think it's good enough, though.

On a side note, I think Paimon's EN VA has improved a lot too. Paimon's character seems really annoying in this Lantern Rite event, though.

It's still pretty bad IMO. I feel like there's no excuse for the replacements to be such a downgrade from the originals now. Before there was the argument of it being less planned and not having enough time to properly vet/direct. Understandable. However, Keqing and Sucrose had ample time for that and the new performances *still* don't even fit half as well as the originals.
