A Space and Time for You
Very spoilery spoilers.
Never have I witnessed such a clean and utter >!genre shift.!<
So casual.
So demure.
>!Traveler: "As you know, Paimon, the HIBERNATION POD on my SPACESHIP uses a key like this"!<
>!Paimon *nods sagely*!<
...
WHAT?
>!You're NOT a shooting star?!<
>!Playing this quest, Skirk's story quest, and The Gods' Limits back to back to back was a wild ride.!<
I just started playing last year, so I had all of the story to catch up on, and man have I been impressed. For a game that is completely free to play (if you can curb that gambling urge, I mean) it's really something else.
I haven't done anything past this quest yet, so please no future spoilers. This post really doesn't have a point, I just had to express to the Internet how much I enjoyed this quest.

So either Hoyo really did intend at that time for us to be shooting stars of some sort or the Traveler described their conveyance as something like a meteorite to Dain because they didn't trust him enough with the full explanation. Does make one wonder when they actually told Paimon the details though.
B: WTF does Aloy's story have to do with the Traveler's spaceship?
The shooting stars we see at the start of the game is them trying to leave teyvat without the ship for some reason lots of people thought it was them arriving even tho the same scene says they were leaving but 🤷
"So... what you're trying to say is that you fell here... from another world?"
And the stars keep being shown for a good while as they travel around Teyvat.
Interpreting this as travelers coming into Teyvat was the most obvious answer at the time.
Paimon's next line coincides with scene transition; now siblings are shown, standing still, and only then Paimon continues:
"But when you wanted to leave and go on to the next world, your path was blocked by some unknown god?"
At the beginning, there was no reason to believe that what's being shown is different from what's being described by Paimon. It's only natural to assume that Paimon's words should've matched the visuals. Only with new context we learned that all the visuals were showing only the escape part, and coming into Teyvat wasn't shown at all.
You're making it look like it was obvious from the very beginning, but it wasn't obvious at all.
And it still could change with new context later. It could be revealed later that it was two spaceships, not two travelers. One ship with Aether and Lumine, and another, unknown one.
Don't be too fast to judge, always have open mind.
yeah i always figured that like they just arrived as shooting stars and thats the part i was trying to talk about, not the part where they get cubed. i had always thought teyvat was just a place they were passing through without actually landing. like their arrival and exit were one in the same.
