Genshin Impact should be a paid subscription (Hear me out)

Am I the only one who thinks there's not enough subscriptions in the world? like for example why not make Genshin Impact regions a monthly subscription, 5$/mo for each regions.

\+F2P players gets access to 1 region for 1 week/month

(Mondstadt would be free)

you can also strategically activate your free trials at certain timing for events / content / farming!

Genshin Impact is a major single player experience that can be experienced in co op.

It is not a competitive game. It is not a AAA game released with standalone stories or gameplay.

A huge part of the experience is from a single player stand point from stories, lore and characters, and the environment. Co op, while a big deal, is not what the game is built around.

It is a free, accessible game that has had a lot of positive impact on young people and personally helped me and I’m sure other people get through a lot of times and a lot of times it’s because it has little barrier to entry.

I really don’t think we should be adding any more.

We don’t need any more of those in the world, since more and more of the Internet is becoming inaccessible daily.

This is an unpopular opinion, but it's absolutely true.

Even something as pitiful as a one dollar subscription works wonders at removing the worst rotten apples from the community. It works for MMOs and they are better off from it.

Always remember: The only people against gatekeeping are the people being kept out

From my experience in gacha communities, both spenders and f2p are entitled pricks. This has nothing to do with paying to play but actually the mental age of these children and menchildren.

You know the experience is primarily single player right? There are so many options to just not interact with “rotten apples” in the game.

And why are we even discussing adding more barriers to entry to one of the best experiences the Internet has to offer? The game is meant to be accessible and free.

The world does not need more subscriptions in it.

Why stop there? Remove the pity system. So players will *enjoy* throwing 1000 fates and never getting the featured 5 star

Why not make characters $1 a month too after you've pulled them? Why not charge for blacksmith services? Why not remove cooking and make it a chargeable food delivery service? Let's remove the ability to open chests and make the player need to hire a locksmith to open them? Why not think of every dumb idea to monetise something and add it to the game? I'm sure nothing bad would happen... right?

I suspect that if they did this, the playerbase would lose about 90% of its players instantly and another 5% in the following two months. Shortly thereafter announcing EoS and resigning itself to another entry in the "Games that once were..." annals.

I hope you never start a business... actualy, I hope you do because this sounds like one of life's lessons you'd benefit from learning.

One of the biggest things the game has going for it is its accessibility. It’s an incredible experience that is very f2p friendly and already has an incredibly successful business model. Despite all the cons, the positives and what a cultural achievement the game managed to become and the impact it has had massively dwarf and negatives it may have.

And it’s free, and has a successful business model. Why would you want to ruin that?

And even more, why would you want to take good things away from people who may already have barriers to accessing content like this?

Why gatekeep one of the best things the Internet has to offer? Over a few minor downsides that aren’t worth it and are easily manageable?

This is obviously rage-bait, GI is already so PTW there’s no need for subscriptions. Hoyo is greedy as hell, which is why I left the community.
