I wouldn't like this since that would mean characters can't react to whatever Traveler is wearing. He wouldn't have a "canon" wear in other words.

They should just fully commit to the new ones. A few people will not like that but it's impossible to please everyone. It's way better than having the main character look less polished than current npcs.

Just change the dialogue slightly if they're not there yet and render the old outfits, or insist that events moving forward assume you're caught up to story or at least past Luna 3 story. It's not that hard to give people a popup before an event, they do it with quick start events all the time.

I don’t believe anything is specified; Lumine and Aether have sufficiently different outfits that they’d have to do extra lines for anything pointing out a detail, and they try to minimize that.

We've been bamboozled twice in a row with Lantern Rite. Last year it was the VA strike making the Hu Tao quest a silent movie (obviously only a English issue) and now the outfit is MIA.

skins being a way to fix old models is so bittersweet when they're 5 star skins you need to buy. and worse when the one 5 star skin i have, diluc's, whose skin is still the only skin that counts as a 5 star, didn't fix anything. his face still looks like an alien and his hair isn't any better. if albedo gets a skin that fixes his hair im buyin it, but it's still a low blow from hoyo if you ask me

Four out of every five HoYo "bugs" are intentional design decisions they came to regret.

I remember when HoYo said in the patch notes that they "fixed a bug in ability X" when they changed the way it worked, and a while later they wrote that they "fixed a bug in ability X" when they reverted it to the original functionality after the backlash from the player base.

I won't be surprised if they didn't even think about the skins because the AQ was made by one team at the same time LR and WQs were made by other teams, and now they realized the players actually love these looks as more than just a novelty so they said it's a "bug" (which implies an issue with the way the game functions, rather than in its design.)

I think this one really is a bug though, because I feel like one of the reasons they even made the new skins in the first place is because the traveler looked so dated compared to newer characters in cutscenes. 🤔

It was actually a bug first, they probably didn’t fix it until he is sold, but it’s unlikely they designed him to spin like that.

I mean it’s not even usable in many devices.

So they fixed it but only when it’s convenient for them. Which rightfully angered the people who were using it, thinking it’s permanent because of the delay.

So they reverted to the bugged version.

Short answer is because they would have to take the game down since it's a client side fix. It's not a game breaking bug so there's no reason to disrupt the service.

You don't need to bring down a server for the client side bug. It would have to be the opposite for it to be true. Everyone can download the update for their client when they launch the game, just like they do with patches, it won't affect other players. We already had at least one such update after 6.3 came out.

Honestly was kinda bummed that characters like Shenhe, Xiangling and Hutao weren't wearing their Lantern Rite outfits (can't remember if Xingqiu's skin was LR or a poetry event one, but him too) 😭 maybe they'll all don their outfits when it's time for Lantern Rite proper but it seems like such a wasted opportunity!!

Plus, wouldn't it just be good marketing to have the characters wearing the outfits so that people might be tempted to buy them (now at full price)?

The outfits are bugged tbh. It makes no sense to have the old one but then when they send you to that other space and you have to walk as the traveler you can have the new one. But like... I've done world quests where you'd literally walk 2 steps and trigger a new scene and the outfit would alternate for each dialogue.
