Let the Journey Begin! (Plz helpšš)
\*\*F2P\*\*
So I finally downloaded Genshin Impact on my Xbox and⦠Iāve been staring at the this screen like itās going to bite me.
Tbh, the main reason I downloaded the game was for Raiden Shogun (I think sheās soooo cool!!!) only to find out I have to WAIT because of the banner schedule and how the game works?? Pain. Absolute pain. But, here I am.
The game honestly looks massive and a little intimidating. I donāt know anyone IRL who plays, which is why Iāve been lowkey scared to even start. I really want to get into it though, learn how everything works, and actually enjoy the journey instead of feeling overwhelmed.
If anyone would be down to add me, play together, or help a brand-new player figure things out, Iād seriously appreciate it. Please donāt hesitate to shoot me a message! šš¼ Iām mostly just looking to meet people who play, understand the game better, and make some Genshin friends!
Also, for the veteran players out there, are there any tips, tricks, or progression advice you wish you knew when you first started? Things to focus on early? Things to avoid doing? Iāll take any wisdom youāve got.
Thanks everyone in advance, and wish me luck on finally pressing start š

The game basically holds you hand and tells you were to go and what to do until you get a feeling for the game , enjoy your in for a wild ride
Remember to have fun, whatever that fun may be.
Genshin is at it's core a single-player live-service game. Play it how you should a normal open-world game.
Starter guides Iāve looked up within the past year have been very helpful as to what to look for. Beyond that just explore and have fun. You can start focusing on that in a few weeks, thereās really no reason to reroll in this game unless rerolling is fun for you personally.
Iāve had a great experience thus far
Play the game and who knows, maybe you will actually want someone else instead.
Number one thing I'd recommend is just take your time with it. It's a single player game more or less with no need to rush content.
That being said if you want some general advice I'd save any of your original resin (the one that's an item, not your regenerating resource) for Adventure Rank 45 and I would recommend you not use any of your primogems on the standard banner.
There's probably going to be a million pop-ups near the start of your journey for events and stuff but just take your time getting to know the systems.
Don't feel pressured into getting characters as a F2P since you will be limited on the amount of pulls you can do. Raiden will eventually become available again so you can get her and by that time you'll know more about the mechanics and which of your characters work best with her.
There's lots of things to do so you will not run out of quests and adventuring for at least a year so just enjoy it! Always helpful people on this sub also if something puzzles you!
What region are you in btw?
those would be my personal advice, mainly because your first experience will be precious, having some dumb mistakes here and there will make it even more unique and fun to look back to
unless of course, you're the type that prefer things to be more on the optimal side, then i think looking up for some community certified beginner guide would greatly help you
I got so excited that I forgot to tell you, give it some time you will love the game and the main story. It's massive and so many things to do might feel daunting so never forget why you started playing - to have some fun :)
My personal favourite is the Fontaine region. I have watched countless videos of others completing the story and it is always so good.
Wishing you luck for Raiden when they rerun her banner.
The reality is that the game does give a generous amount of primogems in my opinion and that you will not get every character you want. If you are playing just to get characters you wonāt have a great time.Ā
This is an RPG game. So treat it like that and have fun
But still around 10 days it's been 60+ hours gameplay
Just start in Mondstadt and follow Paimons tutorial through the Whispering Woods (before getting to the city but after activating the first statue and defeating your first enemy).
Maybe get 5 seelies to their courts if the quests seem like too much but you still want to explore.
Co-op doesn't unlock until you make it to level 14 last I checked.
You can play it without spending money, you'll get free characters of each element/specialty as you complete quests and unlock regions. If you WANT to spend money just get the $5/month welkin moon, it gives additional currency when you log in everyday and will help you save up for when Raiden banner comes back around
1) honestly not having irl friends who play the game can be a positive as you will never feel pressured to ācatch upā to them, the game is always updating but you should take it at your own pace. Enjoy the story and gameplay and donāt rush through it and burn yourself out
2) more practical advice is to not use fragile resin at all until you unlock 5 star artifacts, you probably donāt know what I mean so basically donāt use the item in your inventory that is shaped like a moon until you can farm āgoldā quality artifacts, the game will tell you when you can. Main reason being that non gold quality ones or 4 star and below, are near irrelevant and itās just not necessary to min max your character stats while playing through the story and exploration that much.
3) this one is especially important as you said you are F2P, ONLY PULL FOR CHARACTERS YOU LIKE AND NOT ONES THAT ARE āmetaā. The game is like any other and that means that powercreep is big, a character that released today will be considered non-meta by later this year, but meta in this game means very little and is more of a thing for players who want the fastest clears of endgame stuff. Every character in this game can be used to clear the endgame content at least for the currency you use to pull characters. So since you will always have less pulls as you are F2P itās much better to put them towards characters you actually like and want to use.
4)final tip, try your best to avoid leaks or spoilers for story stuff for a while at least, people post lots of spoilers even the day of a patch and while you may not understand them now since you are at the start, it could ruin some cool reveal and story beats later on.
OH, final final thing, when building characters you need a ālocal specialtyā for each one, basically like a flower or mineral or whtvr that you collect in their region. There is a limited amt in your own world you can collect in a day and they take 3 days to respawn, but if you want to keep upgrading a character and not have to wait you can join someone elseās world and collect more of the material there! Just make sure you ask them if itās ok before you start collecting!
Hope you enjoy the game and all it has to offer!
Just enjoy the story and exploration at your own pace :) Not sure what the requirements for the Lantern Rite event is but if it requires finishing the Mondstadt story maybe focus on that first. The Lantern Rite is a yearly event for the lunar new year that's usually very fun and pretty.
Don't waste your primos on the blue fates, those are just for the permanent banner. It's the ones with a pink tint to them that you want for limited time banners like Raiden's. You get stardust when you pull on the banners, which you can use to pick up five of the two fate tokens each month from the shop section. So since it's the 31st today, if you get a bunch of blue fates from all the new player on boarding, it's worth picking those up before the reset tomorrow. :)
It's easy to get excited, seeing all these new characters and getting a bunch of wishes/primos at the beginning. But, slow it down cause that influx of primos will end. Then you only get a small amount daily.
I do really enjoy the game, the characters, and the lore. But try not to get caught up in "farming" things, or things you deem not as fun. I got very burnt out and now its hard for me to play the game cause I felt like I constantly had to be farming stuff.
I used this guide for smooth sailing. I'm currently AR48 after just under 2 months. [https://i.imgur.com/ofHDaO7.gif](https://i.imgur.com/ofHDaO7.gif)
I picked Tighnari as my first 5-star character, from that selector event. I have my path set for his Stella Fortuna. Mona is the only other one people recommend.
I planned on getting Xingqiu from the Lantern Rite event.
As for quest priority, I followed the in-game "Guide" tab and "Embattle". There's a crapload of stuff that can distract you--get in the habit of following this.
For my first 5-star premium character, I got Varesa, but I have no doubt that Neuvilette would be the best for a newbie. I'm biased towards tanky/self-sustaining brawling dps types as opposed to evasive glass-cannon hyper-carry ones, though.
I honestly just used intuition for elemental reactions, since I thought it was straight forward that fire worked well vs cryo shields and what not, but pretty much every element that wasn't the same color worked to some degree. Only now looked it up since I was curious: [https://i.imgur.com/PTSxwFf.png](https://i.imgur.com/PTSxwFf.png)
Don't forget to try to have fun. Judging by the masses of keys on that keyring, you got other responsibilities. It's not as fun if you're not dedicating your attention to it. I have this problem, but at the same time I enjoy the music so I end up just letting it play in the background. It's a lot better than brainrot on video shorts--I don't miss getting programmed into some NPC by social media. I guess the difference is being active vs passive. I generally immerse myself hard, and therefore find this to be an unbelieveable offering--this is an absurd amount of quality content for not a single cent. I expect to be entertained for many months to come at this rate. I still am in Inazuma with a lot of side-quests and exploration left over from prior lands.
Note: when people say f2p, they don't mean newb. They can be referring to day 1 players who are exceptionally strong. It simply means that they try to play with this standard/limited amount of in-game earned resources, rather than acquiring more through real money sources. These f2p players have to budget/plan their spending very carefully. Efficiently managing resources is a game in its own right.
But you are actually starting at a very good time. You will have just about enough time to explore all the regions before the game enters the final chapters.
I would suggest to follow the archon quest and explore the regions as they were released. You might miss out on some rewards from limited events but the game will just make more sense.
But enjoy the game as a single player.
Only advice I'll give is the game will through a lot of resources at you at the start of the game. But the truth is it's not a lot when you start levelling teams. Don't level every character you come across. Eg: Amber, you'll be tempted to level her up but trust me unless you love her character, ignore it.
Enjoy what the game has to offer and take your time.
Please feel free to ask anything in the sub! idk about others, but iād usually help answer and queries to my best knowledge. Iām in Asia server btw, if you need any help you can add me
Thereās a couple characters that had some backstory stuff featured in temporary events but the online community has documented those storylines so itās easy to find on the internet. Those plot points donāt get relevant until the later game too so donāt worry.Ā
I went in without knowing anything but the game will teach you what you need to know. If you have a healer/ shielder/ or healing foods then the overworld enemies are not too difficult when you are starting out. In the game you can set up a profile that other players can see when they are scrolling through co-op. If you write in your signature about being a new player looking for help thatās an easy way for randoms to come help you.Ā
Also keep your login info secure. Be wary of people saying theyāll gift you game currency but they need your login, thatās a scam. Donāt click suspicious links that could spoof the website but are phishing your information, make sure the URL is legit.Ā
