KQM went from actual theorycrafters writing in-depth guides, to fanfic consuming kids printing out gcsim results to make glorified game8 pages, and this happened a while ago. Around the time they riddled the website with ads and data collectors.

Special edit for downvoters: Let me know the last time you saw KQM put out a guide that has answered rudimentary questions like weapon/constellation %dps increase or how the teams in the teambuilding section perform relative to each other.

As someone who spent a lot of time in World of Warcraft, I agree that a lot of the guides are lacking. However, even WoW has this problem. Written guides are often lackluster, especially if the spec isn’t meta, and all the good info is either in video guides that are quickly outdated, or floating around class discords which are quite possibly the worst way to present information. My guess is it’s just a sign of the times, along with Genshin not really needing that level of detail for theorycrafting for 99% of the playerbase.

WoW TC quality and accuracy was much better than Genshin's in its heyday, although I did stop following the game around legion xpack.

KQM is supposed to be the elitistjerks equivalent of Genshin, it is both treated as such and is uncontested in that regard

If it is going to be game8 with extra steps, then it shouldn't be advertised by the community as something else

Yeah that’s sort of my point. EJ is long gone, and while Icy Veins and WoWHead put out guides, the quality of those guides has dropped over the years (in general, some specs are probably still good). WoW also has SimCraft, and a lot of times the answers to build or gear questions are “just sim it”. Regardless of the quality of KQM though, there isn’t a real alternative.

WoW is 20+ years out at this point, it would be surprising if community had the same amount of care they had in its peak years. But the effort **was** put in at that time.

KQM at some point had the foundation to provide quality and had the people to improve on it, but for some reason completely abandoned that ambition and devolved into what it is today. You can't even ask people to "sim it" now since the simulation in question is unreliable and outdated. As things stand, any random person in a mains sub can come up with a sheet that has some details in it when KQM is too self-conscious to deliver on that. And now everybody is scared to pump out their shitty TC sheets because miliastra test dummy happened.

People burn out on tc work very fast. It's a lot of work for very little reward and often it's done because the tcer is looking to answer a question they have not to provide a resource to the community.

Speaking on kqm specifically It's not a singular entity or a singular group it's always been a revolving door of contributors but many core members splintered off a couple years ago during Fontaine.

Go look at the xinyan KQM. It's insanely detailed.

The yoimiya kqm is very detailed but it needs updating to account for the latest content. For example venti's bow the daybreak chronicles is pretty much always her 2nd best, and is arguably bis for certain builds/comps; kqm doesn't mention the bow at all
