Playing lantern rite before playing Nod-Krai archon quest

I still didn’t finish the new archon quest, from what I have seen this lantern rite even is tied to that?

If so, am I going miss or get confused playing lantern rite first? Archon quest is pretty long so I want to play it properly without rushing.

There is a lot of lore and references to what happened in Nod-Krai. You have like 20 days to do the event tho, and not only that, the actual quest is permanent. If you can't do Nod-Krai until then, I'd just start Lantern Rite to unlock the event mini games and finish it later.

Is it just minor references that I can understand when I play it later?

Or is this quest more like a direct continuation of that quest? Like Act 8.5 or 9?

Hard to say, as I've only done Act 1 so far. But whatever's happening during Lantern Rite is a direct consequence of what we accomplished in Nod-Krai, which is also acknowledged by the characters.

It assumes you have finished the latest quest. It references quite a major event in passing.
