The moon sisters got the longer end of the stick it seems. Though I must say Baizu got the golden end of the stick. And Baizu is the reason I still believe these 2 adeptus can be redeemed. (I am a bit delusional, I know)

Think they should make Moon Carver and Mountain Shaper trying to become playable characters a recurring gag too. Maybe have them show up with fake breasts and a coochy flap next year because they thought that would catch Hoyo's attention

While they've never done it before, I'm sure many people would be stoked beyond belief if Hoyo suddenly came out swinging with a bunch of NPCs turning into Playable Characters. Cyrus, Jeht, Moon Carver and Mountain Shaper, Dunyarzad, and heck even Katherine. (Or Timmie, I guess). The ones missing Visions would need to get them, though.

No, but I actually wanted Cloud Retainer and she became playable later. But I don't like that they make them comedic relief, because they aren't even important characters anymore. Like back in the days they had very important lore and now they are ridiculed by Xianyun. I hate that.

I actually really like the "bickering retired grandparents living in a nursing home" dynamics between them. If they were released I'm sure their own stories would be taken seriously. Hoyo doesn't play around with adepti lore.

You made the mistake of waiting for a penis owner NPC. Literally the only way you're realistically going to get him or the other one is if Hoyo does a rule 63 and gender swaps them. But there is not even a snowball's chance in hell of hooterverse of putting even the tiniest effort into making a male character. Given how they're treated, I have to imagine the give male character design work to the unpaid interns.

Frankly, if we're gonna give an old NPC a redesign and make them playable, I can think of several I'd rather have over Moon Piercer or Mountain Shaper. Jeht, Liloupar, any of the desert gods, Enjou, Zhiqiong, the Blue Oni from Itto's quest, any actual Melusine not with a human face but especially Pahsiv, etc.
Heck, I'd be more interested in them somehow bringing back one of Xiao's siblings than making another Adepti playable. At least his sisters and Menogias are basically unknown entities who I'd love to learn more about. These two are just two boring old dudes.

Now it's really interesting in regards to Moon Goddesses and Moonchanters. When Lauma met Yanfei, they gave some hints how some Liyue adeptis can actually be related to Moonchanters, so does it mean that Moon Carver is Lauma's distant ancestor? And how did he got his name - maybe he really had something to do with the physical moons or their remnants?
