We’ve just accepted Bad lip sync and nobody cares
The title pretty much explains itself.
Genshin Impact has an incredible world that feels genuinely alive, with some of the best world-building in gaming. But Jesus Christ do a good amount of the non archon missions feel surprisingly low-quality.
I distinctly remember the lip sync in version 1.0 being better than what we have now. we also had more pre cutscenes before some dialogues but that’s another criticism that can be talked about some other time.
Somewhere along the way, the community became okay with less than the bare minimum, possibly because constant gacha frustration made us numb to quality drops elsewhere and it’s so easy to overlook very slow quality drops over time when a new shiny Character is being released every 3-6 weeks.
The truth is, Genshin has **AAA-level** resources and launched with **AAA-level polish**, so there’s no real excuse for poor lip sync or downgraded presentation.
I just want Genshin to have the strongest possible Climax and that goes hand in hand with our demand for a certain level of Polish.

The game doesn't do any kind of dynamic lip sync, so it's all made for the official Chinese version.
More often than not AAA games have perfect lip sync for more than 1 language. cyberpunk has perfect lip-sync for 10
Yeah, because autosync for witcher was so fucking ass people complained about that shit until it was removed (and I don't remember if they resynced it or it just in the same state as genshin)
The auto lip sync caused issues where in some dubs that weren’t polish it looked un polished and people complained. rightly so. A simple google search says they improved it with multiple Patches. They also learnt from their mistake and Cyberpunk had improved facial animation+lip sync and was dubbed with even more languages. Keyword they improved over time.
You could give Genshin a little bit of Grace because it’s a live service game but accurate lip-sync would actually be easier for it than for realistic AAA games. The characters are stylised, with simple mouth shapes, so they don’t need complex facial animation. Correctly timed mouth movements would work.
Mind you. 2024 was the first year Genshin didn’t make 1 billion in revenue ( 700 million ). So you tell me, do they have the resources to improve their lip sync or no?
Btw, lip sync was there in early genshin. They moved away from it for some reason and people mostly don't care.
Lips were OK in witcher, THE VOICES were speed up/slowed for EN lips.
But of course if the player base doesn’t demand it ofc they’ll cheap out on it. I mean who doesn’t want to increase profit margins.
That said, both Star Rail and ZZZ manage to lip sync the EN dubs.
That's the same bullshit like people complaining for some reason that Hoyo has funded the construction of Nuclear Fusion reactors.
The game's annual budget is 100 Million USD for fuck's sake, stop acting like they don't put money in the game.
If i gave the impression that I was being condescending that wasn’t my intention.
Do you always associate "calm down" with "insult"?
There’s many ways to interpret “calm down” dude. The same way you interpreted my “ORRRR” as shouting. “Calm down” can be used when someone personally insults you in a discussion and you respond like “calm down blah blah blah it’s just a discussion” yk what I mean? So I thought you felt personally attacked.
Are we really playing the same game? Like shit all you want, but Genshin world quest is the best experience from a game that i ever had.
There is no legitimate reason why there shouldn’t be near perfect lil sync for Genshin in English
and most of the time the pre-rendered cutscenes are already done by the time the other languages have been sent their way?
like, unless they're specifically a dubbing company who's entire job is for that, that is one hell of a logistical nightmare to constantly have 4 different sets of the same pre-rendered cutscene with slightly different moving mouths lMAO
Fighting ghosts today with an imaginary "bad lip sync" that somehow people "care" about
I love Genshin and it has MANY strengths but lip sync is not one of them. It’s okay to criticise the game. I promise you, you won’t lose that 50/50 because you want something improved.
From what I remember, about 4 or 5 months after the release of HSR there was a leak that the Genshin team was trying to do the same thing but for Genshin, apparently they couldn't implement it.
Expecting companies nowadays to actively spend money to hire lip sync professionals is too naive, even more so in service games like Genshin, HSR, etc. Unfortunately, capitalism dictates: be as profitable as possible. And not: have the best possible quality.
I pointed out something that I noticed in the game, a said I think it needs to be fixed because let’s be honest, lip sync is the bare minimum. That’s all. Talking about “making a scene” 😂
