First off, there may be spoilers if you haven't finished the latest archons quest.

Secondly I want to credit CatWithBlueHat, and BranOnline for helping me come to this conclusion.

After getting the info we got from the ending of 6.3, and specifically the new outfit for the traveler, I was compelled to check out the intro of genshin impact again. I wanted to see if Asmoday really was an antagonist or a misunderstood character.

Asmoday says three sentences.

"Outlanders, your journey ends here." and "The sustainer of heavenly principles." and "The arrogation of mankind ends now."

Each one of these sentences are deliberate and relevant to the topic. If you watch the video, Asmoday's tone is rather strict and even comes off as antagonizing. But, let's just say she's misunderstood instead. Let's just say that's how she speaks with friend and foe. Let's assume Asmoday is actually our ally.

If this is the case, then what does each sentence entail now? Allow me to break down my thoughts.

"Outlanders, your journey ends here." This is her first sentence. Reading the name card 'Orbits' it explains that "The two stars(twins) have been captured by the worlds gravity..." I believe Asmoday is the "Worlds gravity" as gravity and space are related.

At the end of 6.3 the traveler says "The ship barely came to a stop before flying off again." and reading the travelers new outfit, "Reshaping terrain, adjusting the air, rebuilding an ecosystem, these were simple tasks for a pioneer vessel meant to bear the spark of civilization." I believe the ship is the heavenly principles and it dropped off something (the shades) to terraform the planet and create life.

"The sustainer of heavenly principles." Now my vocabulary isn't the best, so I wanted to break down what sustainer means. Sustainer basically means anyone providing essential and ongoing support. In other words, she works for the heavenly principles. Nothing new learned here. However, with that confirmation, we can assume that it was her job to collect the twins after the heavenly principles or the shades finished terraforming teyvat. Who better than Asmoday to pluck someone from space.

However, it's the last sentence where I had to come up with my own theory. "The arrogation of mankind ends now." Another big word for me, arrogation. Arrogation basically means stealing power or authority, basically stuff like corruption and tyranny.

But this sentence makes absolutely no sense. Either we use existing information and assume she has defected, since she never showed up during the video where the other shades were revealed, or something else. Because why would she want to theoretically end or rule over mankind after being tasked with making them in the first place.

I'd rather use my own harebrained idea, and keep the idea that Asmoday is an ally. The traveler says at the end of 6.3 "I suspect that it kept flying for thousands of years." Now that is a really long time. If Zhongli was born around the era of the funerary year, which was 6,000+ years ago, then the ship must have passed over teyvat 7,000+ years ago.

Reading the travelers outfit again, a sentence catches my eye. "It carried the weight of an exile and a journey so long that numbers had lost their meaning." Now exile is interesting, does this mean that the twins were exiled from their former home? They don't come off as bad characters, so what if they were unjustly exiled? Or for example, could they have been royalty that had been overthrown?

The twins had to of been born and raised somewhere, where mankind existed. What if the twin's former home and mankind of that realm are the 'arrogation' to which Asmoday is referring to, and now the twins can finally live in peace? Or so was the plan.

That is all, hopefully you enjoyed the theories. If you have any theories of your own about the topic or have anything to correct, comment down below. Hanks for reading!
