Bar none I think nothing can top the release of the Chenyu Vale region, that coincided with CNY so much that Gaming has a special line for you disappearing temporarily during his character quest to start the CNY quest. Not to mention Gaming is one of the best cultural reference characters in the game and Cloud Retainer was a very anticipated playable character.
This is probably the first year after year 1 where we have no 4* cultural reference character.

It’s more of a literal translation from mandarin in my opinion. Xiao also means little, it may also mean little lantern. “Xiao” akasha lantern does not sound right to me. Of course I may be totally wrong. Just an opinion.

You are totally wrong unfortunately. The three characters, even though they have similar pronunciation, are completely different. The "Xiao" in xiao lantern is written as 宵, which just means "evening" or "night", although it's also often associated with festivals (think of how "Eve" is often associated with Christmas Eve). So xiao lantern literally just means evening lantern.
Xiao the character is written as 魈, which derives from a kind of demon in folklore.
"Little" xiao is 小, which doesn't appear in association with the other two terms in game. It's also pronounced differently from the other two senses. "Little" is xiǎo while the other two are pronounced xiāo.

The newest one is the best. Also, one of my favorite stories in the whole game, too. So many beautiful stories and animations. They really didn't cut costs here. And even gameplay atmosphere is amazing. I love the Dark Souls lantens. I wish we got a little more variety of what we can write, but otherwise, it's really great. I know some people write cringe stuff and think they are funny, but I enjoy creativity of some people.
Also, it's funny how they show Wriothesley as another tea lover, because British loves tea, too. As a tea enjoyer myself, I always love this kind of details. I remember when Xianyun overbought tea and tbh? As long as I had place to store the tea, I would really never call them too much. Especially that tea can last for years. And I am heavy drinker, so I would drink it all pretty fast, either way. I can drink around 1-3 pots of tea every day, where one pot is 1.4l. I use two teaspoons of leaves per pot. If I buy 100g package of tea, it's usually gone in a week. So yeah, I would definitely drink it all. Either way, I love how everything is interconnected. Like, small stuff like, Sigewinne mentioning Wriothesley or Gaming mentioning Lan Yan. The only con I can think of is that auspicious trees aren't marked as collected. Because when I collected all 21, I didn't know if I have them all or if I can't find some more hidden ones. It really felt like I just collected 10, and in fact I got them all. I checked with online map of the trees and indeed, had them all. But game doesn't tell you how many you've done. But even minigames are interesting. And combat mode is doable even on low AR, thanks to them bringing what's needed as trial characters. I did like 70k per round on my AR25 alt account, despite using x10 score. That's what I really asked for in past events. Make the combat events clearable for new players, too. I remember, when I started in 2.5 and there was a combat event, but I could not get all the rewards. They really improved the experience, so people have trial characters needed to clear the content, so not only new players, but even high AR players that don't have these units, could actually clear it.
So, this year is really amazing. No laggy co-op games. And everything is so damn great.
