I guess the Fr\*nch were exempted from getting nailed for some reason

1. Dragonspine (Mondstadt)
2. Chasm (Liyue)
3. Tsurumi Island (Inazuma)
4. Desert (Sumeru)
5. Night kingdom (Natlan)
6. Hyperborea (near Snezhnaya)

During the event of The Cataclysm:

6 of the Seven summoned to contain the abyss threat (not directly attack Khaenriah), their status after that:

**Barbatos: Survived**, come back, fight Durin then slumber for 500y

**Morax: Survived**, come back and rule Liyue until retirement

***Raiden Makoto: Killed in action***, Ei come just to see her lifeless body and the entire battlefield scorched to the ground by the pyro archon

Greater Lor-, eh, **Lesser Lord Kusanali**: was ordered to protect Irminsul and purify the forbidden knowledge (so she is the only one didn't go)

***Egeria*** (original hydro archon): ***Killed in action*** at the Tunigi Hollow (Abyssal energy leak here), her body dissolved into the Amrita - divine water was used by the Lord of Verdure to seal the Abyssal corruption in the desert

**Mavuika: Survived**, come back to Natlan, use her body to fuel the Sacred Flame, rebirth 500y later

**The Tsaritsa**: (already replaced the previous cryo archon at this point, unknown timestamp) **Survived**, got PTSD, personality shifted, start planning on rebel again the Heaven

Something happened for sure, though the details are still vague at this point. What we do know is the following:

* What happened in Khaenriah made the Tsaritsa turn against the heavens.
* It ensured "the Abyss" is now the **eternal enemy** of the Tsaritsa and the Fatui.

She might’ve started in Khaenriah and then returned to Natlan to put her plan into action

Fontaine never caused an abyss incursion or tampered with the Ley Lines. The only "crime" they committed was Egeria trying to create life, and that issue would solve itself given time.

They legitimately didn't have to do anything at all.

Yeah, though I’m not sure the flood really counted as “solving itself” vs. simply “being a slow burn”. I suppose it depends on whether fate was rewritten after Egeria’s crime vs. the flood already being in the stars (literally).

Egeria's sin was making mimic-humans, as Phanes was the only one allowed to make humans >!genetic vault anyone?!<. Her punishment was imprisonment and then to bear the duty of an Archon. The entire flooding thing was either spread via word of mouth from Egeria or from Vedrfolnir's predictions. But in the end, Fontaine/Remuria never dabbled with powers of Abyssal origins.

Do we actually know of any instance of a human civilization being nailed because of being involved with Abyss stuff?

* Khaenri'ah of course dabbled with the Abyss, but as far as I know there were no nails involved in their downfall
* Deshret dabbled with Forbidden Knowledge, which is presumably Abyss stuff, but Sumeru was nailed long before that. Apep says her initial forays into Forbidden Knowledge were stopped by the nail, but guess that would at best mean that the Dragons got nailed
* Hyperborea explicitly got nailed as punishment, but it says that was specifically for their crime of creating life (the Fae), i.e. kinda what Egeria did. Don't think it was ever stated that Abyss stuff was involved here. Notably also happened before Nibelung's return
* Natlan I guess you could chalk up to more dragon nailing. Don't think there's any indication humans were involved here
* Honestly no idea what Sal Vindagnyr, Lang-Gan or the Tsurumi people ever did

From the sounds of it, Lang-Gan just had the misfortune of being at ground zero for Abyssal fallout. They didn't create it themselves, but it still needed to be purified. So, down comes the nail...

Obvious bad pun aside, the people never knew why they were punished for, but it was purely out of fear of what was happening underneath them, at the bottom layers of the chasm.

Yes Fontaine makes it out unscathed. Which makes me wonder which place with the seventh one drop. Because I know we are going to get a live drop during our gameplay. It's just where will it drop and how will the traveler help with the aftermath.

My bet is if they don't make the Tsaritsa truly evil and they retcon her so they can sell the pretty queen.

That they will figure out a way to make the nail useful to the traveler for defeating the heavenly principal's.

Or if they keep the Tsaritsa truly mind bogglingly crazy who knows maybe the capital of Shneznaya will be whammied and traveler won't make it in time to stop it. (But my bet is that even if they do this Hoyo is too much of a chicken and the traveler and their all mighty power of plot will somehow absorb the nail like a Coca-Cola)
