How are we supposed to know? What do you find fun?

Depends on what you are finding unfun. Yes, a lot of stuff improves over time. Exploration, environments, story, animations, etc. But some of that stuff could be tens of hours away for you, following normal progression order.
But the core essence of the game doesn't change very much. Gacha, timegating, RNG, visual novel storytelling. If those are really upsetting you, quit while you're ahead tbh, before sunk cost sets in.

I find it amazing that there are people who'd rather make posts like this asking random strangers on the internet who may or may not have the same taste, preference, time and skills as them "is this game fun ?"
Instead of just ... try the damn game out and see for themselves.

Clearly they've tried the game, and found it not as fun as advertised. Rather than invest 100 hours to see 'if it gets good', they want to know before spending the time if it's worth the effort.
Of course, unless they tell us what they like/don't like or what they were hoping for, we can't answer very well.
One Piece is similar, it gets good after like 50 episodes and amazing around the 400 mark (iirc). Doesn't mean people are gonna sit through 20-100 hours of 'mid' without knowing if they will even like the show when it 'gets good'.

If it's not already fun, imo,no.Everyone I have known, heard of,and myself, all had the best time at the start(unless you're trying to jump content).

As tempted as I am to get snarky, I'm going to take this question seriously.
First off, if you just started playing, you're likely early into mondstadt. You're basically in the game's prologue/tutorial still. Very few games are ever their best here because you don't yet have the full experience. You're only getting the bits and pieces explained to you instead of seeing the game as a whole. You've also got Paimon lore dumping on you while regularly interrupting you to explain things like how to jump because the game can't assume you already know how video games work (she gets more likeable as the game goes on).
You're also experiencing the game's oldest content. It's been 5 years since it came out, and the game has only been improving since. The already beautiful world just keeps topping itself. The puzzle mechanics get better. The limited events get more interesting. The story just keeps getting better and better (with a brief dip in the middle of Fountaine). Core game play though? Pretty much the same. WAY more options as your roster expands, and the enemies get more and more varied, but you're still running up, waking the mob with your weapon, and popping skills/bursts as they're available.
