The previous welkin was most likely Zibai right?

I have seen people theorize it could be Canon but it makes more sense that it's Zibai. The hair is very similar to her and the moon behind the welkin lady is golden unlike Canon whose is blue. Welkin moon means the sky's moon or the Heaven's moon. Before the latest archon quest, the moon in the sky was the false moon in which Zibai or one of her parts was trapped. After the Frost moon was brought in it replaced the false moon. The heaven's moon meaning can be taken as the false moon placed by celestia. I don't think there will be any characters who will be related to the moon aside from the moon sisters, Columbina and Zibai. So if Hoyo intended it to be someone it would be Zibai. I'm curious about the symbol at the bottom of their design. If anyone has any idea about that let me know

Given Welkin means “sky” and seems to refer to the false sky’s moon, it’d make sense that she’d be the image on the Welkin moon

i wouldn't say it's a retcon, columbina changed the past and absorbed the other sisters' powers which made her the welkin moon goddess

she didnt really change the past - the kuuvaki was already there in the present, we just saw how it happened.

Also, that would only matter if we saw the original Welkin girl in game, but she doesn't exist, so it is literally a retcon (or it was never intended to be anything - which I doubt, but is possible ig)

Idk. Moonlit bamboo forest was the first time the moon sisters were mentioned. Zibai's story having direct consequences from the archon quest and we know Hoyo has planned out the main story seven years prior. So I think it was planned this way

I don't get your point. What does moonsisters being mentioned in 1.0 have to do with whether the Welkin girl is canon or not. Moonsisters werent retconed.

But the Welkin girl was (or this was just a placeholder and the welkin girl was never supposed to be a thing)

Also, Nodkrai wasn't planned.

I don't get why people are so against the idea that a retcon happened? It's a live service game. Things change, writers change, some new inspiration strikes, etc... that's very normal.

Why would u say it's retconned tho? The first time Zibai is mentioned is when we learn that there are 3 moons. They're setting the foundation that she's related to the moons. Why would u assume the Welkin moon is someone different when all the characters related to the moon are already revealed. The fact that they changed the welkin to Columbina suggests that the previous one should also hold some value.

I am saying that Welkin is retconned, not thatt Zibai or the three sister are retconned.

Every (?) character related to the moon is revealed and we still don't see the Welkin Girl = she is retconned (if she ever was intended to be something)

The fact that they changed it to Columbina means that it did NOT held value, because now it does not exist in any shape or form.

As I said earlier, Welkin moon means the Moon in the sky. The moon in the sky was the fake moon. Now the Frost moon replaced the fake moon. Fake moon is where Zibai is and Columbina is the Frost moon. My point is that the moon getting replaced is why the welkin is getting replaced. If u think it's not that deep, I wouldn't say so since Genshin has cool backstories for most mechanics like miliastra or even battle pass

No. Canon was the Frost moon. Welkin moon was the false moon in the sky. Now it's the frost moon ie. Columbina. I also gave way more reasons in the post
